The New World
We didn't quite get this blog up and running yesterday, but this first, exploratory post is still close enough to Columbus Day (also known as Día de la Raza in many American countries - and Día de la Resistencia Indígena- Day of Indigenous Resistance in Venezuela).
Sadly, we didn't get a holiday here in St Pancras, but we are fortunate to hold several early examples of the Columbus Letter. More currently, I am spending a bit of time this afternoon making sure that we have the materials to support future students of 'Christopher', Episode 42 of The Sopranos.
(Book of the day will have to be Timothy Kubal, Cultural Movements and Collective Memory : Christopher Columbus and the rewriting of the national origin myth (Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan, 2008))

Most people 'round the Americas don't get of the C Day anymore either...no post though, just to keep things interesting
