Yeah, but ...
It does mean that the machine is in charge of determing which container gets which materials not the human being who just might throw everything into the same skip for quickness.

At least in Europe the machine determines how much money you will get for your bottles. A typical refund is 15 cent per bottle, which you get a receipt for and get in cash or deducted from your shopping bill.
